The ten commandments of Fantasy Tennis League

  1. You must be registered to play.
  2. You can only register one team (or to coin a technical term: ‘Only one registration per Participant (and per email address) may be submitted’).
  3. You have to select 16 players with your $100 million budget. Set your Starting 8 players, pick a Captain (50% more points), 3 Key Players (20% more points) and (NEW for 2018), set your bench priority order from 1 to 8 by substituting players.
  4. Before the season starts on January 15 you have unlimited trades. Once the season begins you have 3 trades per week, with a maximum of 72 for the entire season.
  5. Once a game week starts you cannot trade players to score points that week...
  6. ...however, you can start editing you team for the next upcoming game week. If you do not change your team, that same line-up will be entered in to the next tournament/s' game week.
  7. There are some great prizes on offer - but there are a few conditions around them. Check out the Ts & Cs to find out more.
  8. Missed the start of the season? No worries! You can enter to play at any point during the year (there are monthly prizes and we’ll be running mid-season championships).
  9. In the unlikely event that there are issues with the delivery of statistics from a particular tournament, we reserve the right to remove that tournament from our calendar.
  10. Don’t be mean! If we hear that you’re being abusive to or about other players in the game you’ll be kicked out!
Game FAQs

Q: What is Fantasy Tennis League? A: Fantasy Tennis League is a FREE fun and exciting interactive fantasy competition, the premise being simple. You'll get the opportunity to take part in the 2018 tennis season as Manager and selector by entering your very own "Fantasy Team".

You select real players, and based on their real, actual performances in each included tournament starting with the Australian Open, your team scores points according to each of your selected players' stats. Your team is then ranked against your friends/relatives within your own league/s and against everyone else globally playing in the Fantasy Tennis League competition.

The Fantasy Tennis League competition offers plenty of interactivity. Make the tough decisions as to who plays in your starting line-up and who sits on your bench, trade players, and lots more.

Registration/login FAQs

Q: How many times can I enter? A: You can only register and enter Fantasy Tennis League ONCE. Anyone found to be registered more than once, or controlling more than one team at any stage of the competition, will face possible disqualification.

Q: I am currently not a resident of Australia. Can I still enter and play? A: Of course you can! Unfortunately, due to the nature of the competition and legalities involved with running promotions, residents of some countries are not eligible to win prizes. Please refer to the competition Terms and Conditions as to who may be eligible to win any prizes.

Q: I've forgotten my password, what can I do? A: Please click on the 'Forgot your Password' link in the Login panel of the landing screen. Then follow the on-screen instructions to retrieve and reset your password.

Q: Can I change my team name? A: You can only change your team name prior to the start of the next game week (after registering). Once the next game week is complete, you will no longer be able to change your team name.

Selecting your team

Select your complete team

  • Your first job as a Fantasy Tennis League manager is to select a squad of 16 players.
  • You'll not score any points if your team is incomplete (doesn’t contain 16 players) and you'll not be entered in the public and private league games.
  • If your team is incomplete prior to the start of the competition on January 15, we will AUTO-COMPLETE your team with random players in order for your entry to be valid for the season and score points. This will occur shortly after the Australian Open gets under way, once teams are locked in and can no longer be edited.
  • All ATP and WTA main draw players are available to all participants.
  • Only singles matches are included in this competition, from the featured tournaments. No points will be awarded for any doubles or mixed-doubles matches.

Selection restrictions

  • Choosing your squad is easy, but you need to stay within your $100 million budget. Each player has a price and it's up to you to decide how you'll spend your player budget.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of male and female players in your team, but remember: if you pick players from both ATP and WTA Tours your team will be active in a bigger spread of tournaments and you’re more likely to score points.
Selecting your team FAQs

Q: How many players do I have to start with, and do I need to have that exact number? A: You MUST select 16 players to enter the Fantasy Tennis League. From those 16, you must then choose which 8 are playing and therefore scoring points. If you don't modify your team, the same starting line-up of 8 will be entered into tournaments each game week (whether or not they are playing). You can edit teams at any time while a current game week is in progress, for the next upcoming game week of tournaments - right up until the start of the next game week. Players are locked into your team only at the time that the first tournament included in the upcoming game week has started.

Q: Are player's doubles matches included in their score? A: Only singles matches are included in this competition. No points will be awarded for any doubles or mixed-doubles matches.

Q: What if I can't find a player in the game? A: You can use to the search box at the top left of any screen to check whether the player is in the game. If you can't find them, please contact us and let us know.

The player roster is initially made up of players who competed in 2017 main draw ATP / WTA matches. New 2018 players are added after the first tournament week they compete in.

Team editing & trades

Your team HQ

  • You can edit your team at any time, however any changes made after the current game week lockout will not apply until the following game week begins.
  • You need to select your starting line-up of 16 players (8 active players and 8 players on the bench) in order to compete. You can also view each player's scoring and performance breakdown in the Team Stats view.
  • You can substitute players in and out to ensure your best 8 are in your starting line-up.

Captain & Key Players

  • Your selected captain scores 50% extra points. You should also select three key players, who will score 20% extra points.
  • You can change your captain and key players as often as you like, prior to the start of the upcoming game week. At that point, your selection is locked in for the week and cannot be changed.

Substitutions

  • Click the button to substitute the desired player OUT of your starting 8. Then, select a highlighted replacement from the bench to add them in.
  • Players may be substituted at any time leading up to a game week, and can be replaced until the game week has started (at which point, they are locked into your team for that game week in their spot).

NEW - Set your Bench Priority List

  • Your team is awarded one automatic emergency (if one is available) in the event that a player in your selected starting 8 is not competing for a game week.
  • The automatic emergency will be the highest-set priority player from your bench who receives a score greater than 0.
  • You'll note that the players on your bench are numbered down the screen from 1 to 8. Be sure to prioritise your bench in order by substituting players on the bench.
  • If an Emergency player is required by your team, the first scoring player on your bench (from position 1, working down) who scores points in the particular game week will become your Emergency.

Trades

  • You can make unlimited trades on your initial team entry. Your team will be locked in and entered at the start of the next upcoming game week (beginning 15 January 2018) after you have joined.
  • You’ll then be able to trade up to a maximum of THREE players after the conclusion of each tournament week, with a total of 72 trades available for the entire season. Players may also be traded during each tournament week for other available players, up until the next tournament week has started (at which point, they are locked into your team for that tournament week).
  • Trades can be reversed right up until the beginning of each game week. Once the game week is under way, you can no longer reverse any trades for that week.

team & player value

  • Player pricing will also play a part in team selection and trading strategy, and your overall team value.
  • Each player's price will vary based on their most current performance from game week to game week. A rolling average is used to determine how a player's value changes and they must have played in a tournament main draw in order for their value to increase or decrease.
  • Your team value is determined based on the overall value of your selected players, plus any leftover amount in your salary cap.
Team editing & trades FAQs

Q: I have selected a player who has since become injured or retired. Can I replace him or her? A: You can modify your line-ups from your bench list for the next game week before that game week begins. You'll also have a total of three trades available to you each tournament week.

Q: A player in my team scored negative points. Is my emergency eligible to replace their score? A: Negative scores are counted as normal towards your team total. Negative scores are also increased by 50% if the player that scores in the negative was selected as your Captain, and 20% if they were a nominated Key Player.

Q: How often do player's values change? A: In order for player values to change, a player must play in a game week. For the majority of players, this means their price will change after every tournament they compete in.

Q: If a player in my team does not play, does their value change? A: players that don't play do not have their value change. A player must play in order for their value to change.

Q: What is the formula used to determine a player's change in value? A: We do not provide the specific player pricing formula, however it takes a rolling average from the last 3 game weeks that a player has played. This is then generally compared to their Season average from last year and previous performances (upon which the initial price was based on), in order to work out the change.

Leagues Competitions

The Leagues competition in detail

  • Your Fantasy Tennis League team will compete against thousands of other teams around the world in the overall competition, giving you the chance to win prizes for topping the monthly ladder and scoring the most points in the Fantasy Tennis League tennis season. You will also be entered into a league based on your location.
  • Additionally, you can also create or join, and be a part of up to 10 private or public mini-leagues with your single team entry. You can therefore play in your own private mini-competition against friends, colleagues and relatives (or a small selection of complete strangers!).
  • Your league ladder ranks your team based on your overall score.
  • You can join, leave and change between leagues at any time.
  • If you selected to join a public league, your entry will be placed in one automatically, at the completion of the next upcoming game week, with publishing of results. Any participants who do not have a sufficient amount of teams to compete with in their leagues may be randomly added to or merged with other leagues, in order to form larger and more competitive leagues. It is entirely up to you whether you wish to monitor any such leagues.
  • Through the Activity Feed, you'll be able to communicate with your league competitors live.

Public Leagues

  • Creating a public league will allow you to invite anyone you like to your league.
  • Anyone who joins your league or obtains your unique league code will also have the ability to join and invite others to this league.

Private Leagues

  • If you create a private league, you'll be the only one who can invite others to this league (via the League screen).
  • As 'Administrator', you'll also have the ability to REMOVE teams from your league.
  • Anyone joining a Private league is not able to invite others via the league screen.

  • When using the automated league invite form on your league screen to send invitations, your friends/relatives will be provided with a direct link to the registration screen, and will be added to your league automatically upon successful registration.

Head-to-Head Rivalries

  • Take on your friends, or just about anyone in the competition - head-to-head, any game week, or every game week.
  • Click on the RIVALRIES tab from your Leagues screen and simply follow the on-screen instructions to search for any team in the competition - or instantly challenge anyone who is in one of your leagues.
  • You can setup a Rivalry against anyone you like who is also in the competition. On the Rivalries screen, you'll be able to keep track of their week-to-week score, whether you won or lost against them (based on total points scored by your respective teams), as well as a win/draw/loss tally.
  • In the right-hand panel, you'll be able to track who has setup a Rivalry against you in the competition, and therefore is tracking your performance. You may add any of these teams to your own Rivalries (creating a confirmed Head-to-Head Rivalry).
  • You can setup or remove a Rivalry at any stage of the competition.

Setup your Facebook and Twitter leagues

  • If you have a Facebook and/or Twitter account, you can now link it to your Fantasy Tennis League entry.
  • In addition to the sharing of your data to your wall/followers, you'll be able to setup your very own Facebook and/or Twitter leagues which are in addition to your regular leagues.
  • On linking your account, Fantasy Tennis League will automatically setup your 'all in' Facebook and/or Twitter league.
  • You'll be ranked based on overall points against any of your Facebook/Twitter contacts who also play Fantasy Tennis League and have linked their accounts.
  • In addition, you can automatically invite any of those not playing with a simple wall post or tweet directly from Fantasy Tennis League.
Leagues FAQs

Q: How I do create a league where I can compete against my friends? A: You can create a new league from your League screen. After accessing your Leagues screen, you can click on the 'Create/Join' button to create a new league, or join one that you've been invited to.

Q: How do I enter a new public league? A: To enter a new public league, you have to create one. In your Leagues screen, click on the 'Create/Join' button to create a new league.

Q: Can I leave a league? A: On your Leagues screen, click on the 'leave' button to leave a league. Please note that you must be in at least one league.

Q: I just joined. Why wasn't I added to a league, and where is the option to create one? A: Everyone who signs up to the Fantasy Tennis League competition will automatically be a part of a league. Look for the 'League' link and button in the game menu bar on the left to access your league.

Q: I've found out that all of my friends are in another league. How do I swap leagues so I can play against them? Can you move my team for me? A: If you've been invited into a league by email, then please follow the prompts in the email to join that league. If you have been provided specific league code, then click on the 'Create/Join' button and enter the code into the box provided.

Q: Can I change the name of the league that I created? A: Your league name can only be changed prior to your league's first lockout, when your league is finalised and confirmed.

Q: The league that I was in is now different, or its name changed... Why? A: We may add teams or merge leagues where they don't attract enough competitors. All care will be taken to ensure that all original teams that you had in your league will still be there, in addition to new ones. Your league name may therefore change based on these movements.

Q: Can I remove people from my league? A: If you were the Private League creator, you will have the option to remove people from your league.

Point Scoring

How you'll score points

  • Your Fantasy Tennis League team is awarded points based on the real performances of the real players in each game week.
  • Points scored by your team each game week are based on the performance of the starting line-up of your 8 players for each game week.
  • Your selected captain scores 50% extra points. Your three nominated Key Players score 20% extra points.
  • The remaining 8 players on your Bench don't score points towards your team total, unless an automatic emergency is required.
  • Only singles matches are included in this competition. No points will be awarded for any doubles or mixed-doubles matches.

Automatic Emergency

  • Your team is awarded one automatic emergency (if one is available) in the event that a player in your selected starting 8 is not competing for a game week.
  • NEW IN 2018 - The automatic emergency will be the highest-set priority player from your bench who receives a score greater than 0.
  • The automatic emergency’s score will be added to your team's total score at the completion of the game week.

Live, end-of-match and final scores

  • While live and/or end-of-match scoring for your team and your league's opponents and participants will be available during each day of the game week, scores and rankings are usually updated, confirmed and finalised within a few hours of the last match of the tournament.
  • In certain circumstances, due to the complexities involved in the large number of statistics that are provided and processed, delays may occur. Please allow up until 3:00pm AEST on the day following the completion of the game week for scores to be processed.
  • Scores are final once completely processed.

Stats Centre FAQs

Q. Can I view the highest-scoring players from the last game week only? A. You can view players by scores up to any previously completed game week, from the drop-down "Game Week" menu near the top left of the Player Research screen (on mobile, the menu arrow on the bottom right of screen). This will display players sorted by their Season-to-date scoring.

Q. What is the "MVP Value" score and ranking? A. The MVP (or Most Valuable Player) is updated throughout the season and provides a 'dollar value per point scored' and ranking based on that value. It's worked out by dividing the player's current value by their current average score per game week - therefore giving you their dollar value per point scored each week.

      Entry

    1. Participation is free of charge except for any costs that may be incurred under the contract between the participant and his/her telecommunications provider. To enter, the Participant must firstly register by completing the online registration process at the Website during the Promotion Period. This will require the Participant to provide the following details:

Participants will be required to (a) choose a nickname/alias to identify their entry; (b) submit the name of their fantasy tennis team; and (c) subject to “Salary Cap Limitations” as detailed on the Website, submit a complete team of 16 players (“Chosen Team”).

    1. Only one registration per Participant (and per email address) may be submitted. Under no circumstances can Participants enter two or more registrations or team entries. Any Participants found to do so will be disqualified from eligibility to win prizes, solely at the Promoter's discretion.

    2. If invited to enter a particular league, Participants may enter their details to join that league during the registration process. Alternatively they can create up to ten private or public leagues and invite others to join. If they do not select a league, Participants will automatically be entered into a public league. Subject to a Participant’s eligibility to win a prize, that eligibility will not be affected by whether they join a public league or private league. Rankings as displayed on the Website include the rankings of all Participants, and not only the rankings of Participants that are eligible to win a prize, and therefore should not be relied upon as indication of who will win a prize.

    3. During registration, Participants may refer the Promotion to their friends via email using the refer-a-friend facility on the Website. If a Participant refers a friend, they warrant that they have obtained their friend’s implied or actual consent to do so prior to sending the email. Player trades must take place prior to the commencement of a particular tournament week to be eligible to be selected for that tournament, and are subject to any Salary Cap Limitations as detailed on the Website. Players traded during ßthe season do not get their aggregate points added or subtracted to the Participant’s total. For sake of clarity, if the player is removed from, or added to the Chosen Team, only the points earned by that player for that Participant, prior to their removal or after their addition from the Chosen Team, in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, count towards the Participant’s total.

    2. After registration, Participants may enter all remaining tournaments that have not been completed. Subject to clause 9, to enter a particular tournament, the Participant must prior to the lockout period for that tournament (as notified on the Website), submit their “Tournament Week Team” comprising of 8 “Starting Players” from their Chosen Team.

The Automatic Emergency will be the highest-set priority player on the Chosen Team's bench who receives a score greater than 0, as set and ordered from one to eight by the Participant for any given tournament week. The Automatic Emergency score will be automatically added to the total points scored by the participant’s team in any given tournament week. Participants may select a “Team Captain” who will score 50% additional points, and select 3 "Key Players” who will score 20% additional points.

    1. If, after participating in a tournament week, a Participant does not amend their Team, their Team from the previous tournament week as selected by the Participant will be used, regardless of whether or not those players will be playing in the coming tournament week.

The Overall Prize winners and round Prize Winners will be notified by email, using the details provided in their entry. The first name, nickname/alias and country of residence of the winner of the Overall Prize will be announced on the Web Site above on 1 December 2018.

    1. All prize items are valued inclusive of GST and the Promoter takes no responsibility for any variations in prize values. Where a prize, or part of a prize, is unavailable for any reason, the Promoter may substitute for that prize (or part) another item of equal or higher value as determined by the Promoter, subject to the approval of the gaming authorities in each state and territory, where required. Any taxes which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving a prize are the sole responsibility of the winners. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings. Independent financial advice should be sought. Where the operation of this Promotion results in, for GST purposes, supplies being made for non-monetary consideration, Participants agree to follow the Australian Taxation Office’s stated view that where the parties are at arm’s length, goods and services exchanged are of equal GST inclusive market value.

    2. All costs associated with a prize not specifically included in the Prize Details including, but not limited to, any transport costs, transfer costs, meals, taxes, insurance and other ancillary costs are the responsibility of the winner (and their companion/s if applicable).

    3. If a prize includes tickets to an event, all tickets are valid for the date or period as indicated on the tickets. All event tickets are issued subject to the relevant event ticket conditions of sale and entry. If any part of the event is abandoned, called off, varied or postponed for any reason, then at the Promoter's discretion, the relevant winner (and their companion/s, if applicable) forfeits all rights to attend the relevant event. The Promoter is neither responsible nor liable for any loss or damage suffered in these circumstances.

    4. If a prize involves the winner meeting or attending a function with a celebrity or other public figure, the Promoter will not be liable for the failure of the winner (and their companion/s, if applicable) to meet that person or failure of that person to attend the function, for whatever reason.

    5. If a prize includes domestic or international travel the prize must be booked and completed as specified by the Promoter. Any flights and accommodation constituting part of a prize are subject to booking and availability. Any tickets, passes or vouchers issued as part of the prize are subject to the prevailing terms and conditions of use. They are only valid for use within the stated duration on the tickets, passes or vouchers issued and are not replaceable if lost, stolen or damaged. The Promoter is not responsible for any cancellation, delay or re-scheduling of flights and any costs incurred as a result (including without limitation accommodation costs) will be the sole responsibility of the winner.

    6. The winner (and their companion/s if applicable) will be responsible for meeting all the entry requirements including, but not limited to, any health or other government requirements for international travel including valid passports, necessary visas, travel authorizations, medical advice and recommended vaccinations and immunisations. Failure to fulfill these requirements may result in the prize being forfeited or any additional costs being incurred at the expense of the winner. The winner (and their companion/s if applicable) agrees to comply with any prevailing terms and conditions of the relevant transport carrier, accommodation provider, service provider, insurance provider and in particular any health, behaviour, age and safety requirements. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and Participants (including a Participant's identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any Participant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who in the opinion of the Promoter tampers with the entry process. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

    7. All prize winners must, as a condition of being awarded a prize, at the Promoter’s request, participate in any reasonable marketing and promotional activity (e.g. participating in interviews, writing articles and being available for photographs for newspapers, websites, social media platforms and other media channels) in relation to winning any prize, free of charge. Participants consent to the Promoter using the Participant’s name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for a reasonable period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this Promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products/services supplied by the Promoter.

    8. Incomplete, indecipherable, incorrect or illegible entries will be deemed invalid. Entries containing inappropriate, offensive, derogatory, defamatory or illegal content, as determined by the Promoter will be deemed invalid and may be removed from the Promotion.

Each winner must sign and return any liability release provided by the Promoter as a condition of any prize being awarded.
